What it is

Commercial electrical equipment — panels, switchgear, and switchboards; generators and emergency power supply systems (EPSS); automatic transfer switches; emergency lighting and exit signs; EV chargers; UPS and battery systems — runs on the same equipment spine as HVAC in Thermal, not a bolted-on module. An electrical contractor turns on the commercial electrical pack for their organization from Settings, and electrical equipment gets its own type definitions and attributes without waiting on a separate product.

This is a real, in-progress vertical pack, and this page says exactly where the line is: five equipment types, eleven inspection templates (panel/switchgear thermography, arc-flash re-study, generator/EPSS weekly visual through NFPA 110 run and load-bank tests, emergency-lighting functional and duration tests, EV charger annual), a Full EPM Bundle agreement plan, self-serve activation, and the deficiency-to-quote pipeline are live today. Certified-technician dispatch enforcement covers the two rules that can be expressed today — electrical panel work and generator/EPSS + ATS work; visit-type-scoped rules (thermography, arc-flash re-study) are still on the roadmap.

The through-line is recurring regulatory obligation, not a one-time visit. Panels get an annual NFPA 70B thermography scan and a 5-year NFPA 70E arc-flash incident-energy re-study, generators run a monthly NFPA 110 load test, and emergency lighting gets a monthly functional and an annual 90-minute duration test — a missed cadence is a life-safety and code-compliance risk for the customer’s building, not a comfort complaint. That’s why this page argues from the inspection calendar and the deficiency log, the same source data behind PM compliance rate, rather than from margin math.

Eleven inspection templates ship pre-built and install idempotently — annual and EPC-3 semiannual panel thermography, 5-year arc-flash re-study, generator/EPSS weekly visual through monthly NFPA 110 run test and annual load-bank/fuel-quality checks, emergency-lighting monthly functional and annual 90-minute duration tests, and EV charger annual — plus a “Commercial Electrical — Full EPM Bundle” agreement plan bundling the recurring cadences into one contract. A failed thermography scan or a generator that won't transfer load has to turn into a priced repair, but going from checklist finding to a customer-ready quote is still manual copy-paste.

Failed test to priced quote, in one pipeline

A failed inspection item — a NETA MTS tier 3/4 thermal anomaly, a generator that fails to start or transfer, an emergency light that fails its duration test — becomes a deficiency automatically classified by severity, and a Good/Better/Best quote is generated straight from the open deficiencies on that inspection.

Deficiency creation and quote generation are live and run end to end in the same transaction chain as HVAC.

Panel and generator work needs a licensed electrician or NETA-certified technician, but nothing in the dispatch rules enforces it for visit types like thermography or an arc-flash re-study specifically.

Certified-technician dispatch rules

Two rules are seeded and enforced today: electrical panel work requires a state electrical license or NETA-certified technician, and generator/EPSS + ATS work requires a state electrical license. Rules scoped to a specific visit type — a NETA Level II thermographer for a thermography scan, an arc-flash-qualified worker for a re-study — aren’t expressible by the current dispatch predicate schema yet and are on the roadmap.

Visit-type-scoped cert dispatch, for now

Dispatch enforces certification by equipment type today — a state electrical license or NETA-certified technician for panel work, a state electrical license for generator/EPSS and ATS work. It does not yet require a NETA Level II thermographer specifically for a thermography visit, or an arc-flash-qualified worker specifically for a re-study visit — the current predicate schema can’t express “this visit type” as a condition, only equipment type. That gap is filed and on the roadmap, not silently worked around.

Arc-flash study filings

Thermal tracks the arc-flash incident-energy study and its 5-year re-study cadence so your team can produce the label and the record. It does not perform the underlying engineering study or submit it to a jurisdiction — that’s a deliberate scope boundary. The study itself stays with your licensed engineer.

Is the commercial electrical pack fully built?

No, and this page says so plainly. Equipment types, eleven pre-built inspection templates, the Full EPM Bundle agreement plan, self-serve activation, and the deficiency-to-quote pipeline are live today. Cert-gated dispatch is partial — two rules enforce today, visit-type-scoped rules are on the roadmap.

Partially. Electrical panel work requires a state electrical license or NETA-certified technician, and generator/EPSS + ATS work requires a state electrical license — both enforced today. A rule scoped to "this specific visit is a thermography scan" or "this visit is an arc-flash re-study" isn't expressible by the current dispatch predicate schema yet — that's on the roadmap.

Does Thermal perform or file the arc-flash study itself?

No — that's a deliberate boundary. Thermal tracks the arc-flash incident-energy study, its 5-year re-study cadence, and the resulting label attributes so your team has the record. The engineering study itself is performed and signed by your licensed engineer.

How do I turn on the commercial electrical pack for my org?

From Settings > Capabilities, the same self-serve screen every vertical pack uses. Turning it on seeds the eleven inspection templates and the Full EPM Bundle agreement plan for your organization; turning it off blocks starting new inspections from those templates.

Can an electrical contractor run inspections and service work together?

Yes. The electrical pack shares the same dispatch board, service agreements, and invoicing as the rest of the operation, so thermography scans, generator run tests, and repair work run from one system instead of a separate electrical-only tool.
